The newborn stage passes sometimes before a mom ever feels ready for photos. You’re healing, adjusting, barely sleeping, and just trying to find your new rhythm, and the idea of getting dressed and showing up can feel like too much. I totally get it. I want moms to know that waiting until things settle means you’re honoring your body and your season. One or two months can still be such a beautiful age to document your baby and your family, and every stage is worth documenting honestly. While my professional preference for classic newborn sessions is within the first 10 to 14 days, when babies are usually curled up, sleep more deeply, and need fewer breaks for soothing, that doesn’t take away from the beauty of later sessions , it simply offers a different kind of connection and story.
Photographing this gorgeous family with their new one-month-old son was a dream. I love the way their little guy already makes such steady eye contact and expressions. It just goes to show their is really no wrong age for photos and Torrey Pines State Beach, with its mix of cliffs, rocks, and open shoreline, gave us such a beautiful backdrop for this very family beach session. ;)
