 I love giving the children in our session free roam to play and run around, capturing their real selves, their little but oh so BIG personalities as they interact with mom & dad in front my camera. Play is the key in a successful family session. Lots of tickling, chasing, jumping , splashing - I live to capture that raw beauty that lies within family connection. Sometimes asking a toddler or child to sit still and smile doesn't exactly give us a true memory of them at this age, this is why I feel its important to sing with them , giggle with them, ask them questions. This is how I capture family sessions, like a casual day with mom & dad at the beach.

Alesia & Garrett were so much fun to photograph! For their engagement session we decided on Crystal Cove State Park to really get the diversity of the scenic there, the rocky areas and long stretches of sand plus those gorgeous ocean view cliffs you can’t beat. We strolled the beach , they giggled and hugged along the shore line and explored the rocky areas for some even cooler shots. When we headed back up the beach we decided to throw down a blanket to enjoy the sunset. These two requested to incorporate their fav drinks in their session to add a little bit of personal sentiment, so they had a refreshing few sips while enjoying the sun making its way down the horizon. I love when my clients come out of their shells, and these two did just that with their playful piggy back rides and beach wandering. I try as much as possible to get clients to a relaxed state so they can just have fun and be themselves, because thats when we are able to really capture the raw emotion and connection, the realness between two people in love. For this session we wanted to go for a more soft romantic vibe so we looked for a long flowy blush pink dress for Alesia to wear and thought a pop of color in Garrett's pants would add some character & contrast too so went for a forest green tone. I usually cling to lighter tones for my sessions but for this one we went toward the deeper & richer tones being near the rocks and romantic cliffs. It was a great day for an engagement session , we got some killer sunset colors in the sky!

Not only is the sunset of this shoot incredibly breath taking, but the couple themselves are beautiful and I get to be the one to document their wedding day this coming May 2016. For this sweet engagement session we strolled through Crystal Cove State Park exploring all of its beautiful landscape + jaw dropping cliff views of the horizon while the sun was setting; it made for such a romantic session! I loved capturing these two lovebirds and their deep connection, it makes my job so incredibly easy and more importantly, fulfilling! I honestly have to pinch myself sometimes when I wake up because I can’t believe this is what I get to do everyday for a living, so much gratitude! Thank you Blair & Ricky for trusting me to capture this special time in your lives. . .

THE MCGUIRE FAMILY | CRYSTAL COVE STATE PARK 

This sweet family came all the way from Salt Lake, Utah to visit sunny California! We decided to do our session at Crystal Cove State Park  to get those great rocky areas with a long open shore.   This location ended up being the best choice because the sunset was seriously breathtaking! The beach gave us all this incredible soft light with pastel tones in the sky like a watercolor painting. It was so dreamy ! These sweet boys were so excited to explore at the beach on their little vacation, and I loved capturing that excitement in their eyes. One of the greatest parts of my job is getting to witness children experience the beach for the first time. The sense of wonder in their eyes is always so neat to capture.  You can really feel the love between these brothers & their incredible brotherly bond. I absolutely loved this session!
