There is something profoundly beautiful about a woman’s body in this season , carrying new life while still nurturing the one already here, a toddler balanced on her hip as her body continues to give, comfort, and nurture.

More ice cream shop shoots in summer please 🍦☀️ There’s something undeniably nostalgic about the sticky fingers, salty air, and the slow joy of doing absolutely nothing but soaking it all in. That’s the magic I wanted to bottle up during this Laguna Beach motherhood photo session and let me tell you, this mama and her little one truly brought it to life.

This dreamy lifestyle shoot took place at South Swell Ice Cream in downtown Laguna Beach, one of my favorite hidden gems for authentic, documentary style photo sessions. I had a vision: mama in flowy linen, baby in tow, melting cones in hand, strolling along the charming sidewalks of Laguna just doing simple summer things. No stiff posing, no forced smiles — just real, sun drenched moments.

As a Laguna Beach family photographer, I’m always looking for ways to blend natural light with candid emotion, and this session delivered everything I love most: melting cones, sandy toes, sun kissed baby cheeks, and that golden hour glow that feels like pure California magic. 🌊

We wandered around downtown, popped into the ice cream shop, and captured the kind of images that tell a story. The soft forehead kisses, giggles between bites, the quiet pauses where mama just soaked it all in. These are the moments that matter. These are the moments I live to photograph.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jessica and Mike Trout during their first Newport Beach maternity session as they eagerly anticipated the arrival of their first son, Beckham Aaron Trout. As one of the most iconic figures in baseball, Mike Trout is known for his incredible talent on the field, but being able to witness him as a soon-to-be father was truly a memorable experience. Jessica glowed with love and excitement, making this Orange County maternity session incredibly special.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Irvine Cove Beach, this session was filled with raw, beautiful moments that captured the deep connection between them. The serene beach environment reflected the calm yet excited anticipation of becoming first-time parents, and it was a true honor to capture their journey as they prepared to welcome their son into the world.

It’s always a joy to photograph life’s most precious milestones, and this maternity session with the Trouts was no exception. Intimate in-home maternity sessions will forever have my heart.

Those last leading days with your firstborn before welcoming the newest addition to the family can be a bittersweet.
While having a new baby on the way is exciting, it's hard to forget the fact that your first child will no longer be your only child anymore. It’s such a raw and tender time worth capturing ... and doing it at-home makes it even that much more special + intimate . Every day shared with our child, no matter what we do or how our experience unfolds, is precious. How we spend our time matters least, taking the time to love on our kids the best we can matters most. The reward of motherhood knows no bounds and every season bears fruit as long as we root ourselves into being mindful and present, allowing God to water our journey. Soak it all up mammas.

Women should be proud of their bodies and what it can do, carrying little humans into this world is miraculous and worthy of documenting. Bare that beautiful belly proudly mammas - as it’s the most incredible thing in the world!  

Also, don’t be shy or feel shame for sharing photos of that belly! Have you ever posted a photo of yourself in a swimsuit? Well I’m here to tell you- it covers the same as panties and a bra does! I challenge and support you to embody confidence in your skin, both pre-baby and postpartum, as our bodies change/evolve.  Embrace the skin you’re in, believe others when they say you’re beautiful. 

I’m here to tell you , that you will want these memories, from bare belly snuggles with your toddler to sleep deprived now breastfeeding your newborn in a rocking chair.  Do it,  you won’t regret having those photos - ever .
