Nothing better than getting to capture one of your best friends during their special milestones. Leilani and I met during our years in college and walked the stage earning our degrees together at CSULB, then both started our own businesses and now starting her own family- which makes me jump for joy for her and Shane as they embark on this new chapter in their lives . It’s such a beautiful thing to go thru this journey of life together , and what an honor it is when a friend entrusts in me to be the one to capture it all for them.
When discussing possible photoshoot locations for their maternity photos, we thought it would be fun to head to the desert and shoot at Joshua Tree National Park for those sun drenched open landscape shots. We knew it would be a magical place to shoot and worth the drive and even worth baring the 100 degree heat, ha. We even stopped off the side of the highway to snap a few windmill shots which has always been on my shooting-bucket-list . This ended up being such a fun day! It is definitely going down as one of my favorite-ever-locations . You just cant beat the dreamy light of the desert!
Also, how gorgeous is Leilani in this Shop Doen dress?! Couldn’t handle how beautiful she is.

I’ve had the honor of photographing the Calhoun family since Jennifer was pregnant with Knox. Now they are expecting their baby girl, Lennox , any day now and I get to be a part of witnessing their beautiful family grow. I always feel so incredibly honored when a family chooses me to capture their family as it grows because it feels like I am a part of the journey with them .
This family though, let me tell you- they are some of the kindest most humble people you’ll ever meet. Jennifer is a gem, always glowing as a mamma to Knox and as a wife. You can feel her love for that sweet boy of theirs and it’s so deep and beautiful, makes me never want to put my camera away. Not to mention, each time we get together for a session, it feels like Jen and I are long time friends catching up, we laugh a ton and just have fun during her session.
This Newport Beach maternity session was a dream, not only because of the sweet overcast day we lucked out with , but because this family is the sweetest to capture . Can’t wait to meet their baby girl soon!
